”And even though your sister still hates you, you’re pretending to be friends because your dad is…” ”I’m joking, he’s just there.” ”Here’s to love!” Amazon isn’t letting newly minted Emmy winner and Hollywood’s new it-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge out of their sights anytime soon. The tech giant’s Amazon Studios has just signed an overall deal with the ‘Fleabag’ creator and star in which Waller-Bridge will develop new projects to premiere on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming platform. The star is hot off a successful night at the 2019 Emmy awards this past weekend where both the series and Waller-Bridge won multiple awards for best comedy, acting and writing. Season two of the Amazon series nabbed six Emmys in total, including two Creative Arts awards and the big studio is definitely taking notice of all the success. Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke spoke out about the exciting partnership with Waller-Bridge saying, It looks like Amazon’s making the right move by banking on the star to create quality work for the studio. In addition to her work for ‘Fleabag,’ Waller-Bridge also created and executive produces BBC America’s critically acclaimed show ‘Killing Eve’ and executive produces HBO’s upcoming comedic thriller ‘Run,’ starring Merritt Wever. She also did a rewrite of the script for the forthcoming James Bond movie ‘No Time to Die.’ For more on this story, head to THR.com and until next time for The Hollywood Reporter News I’m Neha Joy.
